One of the first questions I get when planning a family session is:


Where should we take the photos?


The good news is that St. Petersburg has so many beautiful options.


Beach, greenery, downtown architecture, historic neighborhoods, waterfront views, or even your own home — the best location really depends on what feels most like your family.


Here are a few of my favorite options for family photos around St. Pete.


Fort De Soto












Fort De Soto is one of my favorite locations for families who want a natural, relaxed Florida feel.


There’s plenty of space for kids to move, explore, run, and play, which works perfectly with my documentary-inspired approach.


Instead of standing in one spot for the whole session, we can walk along the beach, let little ones explore, and use the natural surroundings to create photos that feel easy and connected.


This is a great option if you want:


* Soft beach scenery

* Natural greenery

* Lots of room for kids to move

* A relaxed, coastal feel


Downtown St. Petersburg














If the beach isn’t really your thing, downtown St. Pete gives your gallery a completely different feel.


We can use sidewalks, interesting architecture, greenery, and little pockets around the city to create something that feels a little more editorial while still being relaxed.


Downtown sessions also naturally give us a lot to do.


We can walk, explore, stop along the way, and keep everyone moving rather than staying in one pose.


It’s especially fun for families who want something a little different from traditional Florida family photos.


Gizella Kopsick Arboretum














If you want your family photos to feel lush and tropical, Gizella Kopsick Arboretum is such a beautiful option.


The palms and winding pathways create so much texture in the background without taking attention away from your family.


I especially love this location for families who want that unmistakable Florida feel without having a traditional beach session.


There are plenty of little areas to walk, explore, and let kids move, which makes it easy to create a gallery that feels natural instead of overly posed.


It’s tropical, relaxed, and a little unexpected — perfect if you love greenery but want something different from a traditional park.



Pass-a-Grille Beach
















For families who want the beach but still want their photos to feel a little more unique, Pass-a-Grille is such a beautiful option.


It has that classic old-Florida coastal feel, with soft sand, beach cottages, palms, and charming streets nearby.


We can start with a little walking and exploring before heading toward the water, which gives your gallery more variety than a traditional beach session.


And once we’re on the beach, there’s plenty of room for kids to run, play, cuddle, and get a little sandy.


Pass-a-Grille is perfect if you want something coastal, relaxed, and timeless.


Historic Roser Park















Roser Park is one of my favorite options for families who want something lush and green without feeling like they’re in a traditional park.


This historic St. Petersburg neighborhood is filled with mature trees, greenery, charming homes, brick streets, and little winding areas that give photos so much character.


It feels quiet, intimate, and a little unexpected.


I especially love Roser Park for families who want their photos to feel romantic and timeless, with lots of natural texture in the background.


It also gives us plenty of opportunities to walk and move throughout the session, which helps everything feel more natural.


Your Own Home


















This one might not sound like the obvious choice, but it can be one of the most meaningful.


Your home is where your family actually lives.


It’s where your kids play with their favorite toys, where you make pancakes on Saturday mornings, where your baby falls asleep in your arms, and where so many little everyday moments happen.


You don’t need a Pinterest-perfect house.


You don’t need a giant living room.


And you definitely don’t need everything spotless.


Good light and the people you love are more than enough.


In-home sessions are especially beautiful for newborns, babies, toddlers, maternity, and motherhood sessions.


So, How Do You Choose?


Think less about which location is the prettiest and more about **where your family will feel comfortable.**


If your kids love running barefoot and getting messy, Fort De Soto or Pass-a-Grille might be perfect.


If you want something lush, historic, and a little more romantic, Roser Park is beautiful.


If you love architecture and want something less traditional, downtown St. Pete could be the better fit.


And if home is where your family feels most like yourselves, we can photograph you there.


There really isn’t one “best” location.


The best place for your family photos is the place that helps your family relax, connect, and actually enjoy being together.


And if you have absolutely no idea where to choose?


That’s okay too.
